This hotel in the heart of the tenderloin district exceeded all our expectations. Despite being situated in a gritty area, the hotel itself felt like a hidden gem. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, making us feel right at home. The rooms were clean and comfortable, with wall-sized windows that provided beautiful views of the city. The bed was also great, ensuring a good night's sleep after a long day of exploring. Additionally, the breakfast provided was a delightful start to each morning, giving us the energy we needed for the day ahead.
No improvement needed, everything was great.

The hotel's staff is amazing, making us feel welcomed and remembered our names. The casual atmosphere and the view of the pool from our comfy bed were great.
Don't have any issues at all.

Recently stayed at the Phoenix Hotel for a short trip and was thoroughly impressed. The desk staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, even refusing a tip. The room was clean, spacious, and had a comfortable bed. The bathroom had a roomy shower. In the morning, we enjoyed coffee and muffins by the pool while exchanging travel stories with other guests. The hotel's unique artwork and old wing chairs in the courtyard added to the charm. A truly enjoyable experience that I would definitely repeat.
100% recommend this hotel.

noisy outside at night.

We stayed in a hotel that was in a less desirable neighborhood, but it was conveniently located near all the attractions. The hotel had clean rooms and comfortable beds. The staff was helpful and gave us tips on places to see. The hotel had a nice pool and patio area.
The hotel can get a little loud at times, especially during the weekends.

Nothing compares to Phoenix. We appreciated the spacious patio. There was a nice pool on site too. Chambers, where you can eat, is walking distance to the hotel.
Noisy street!

Phoenix Hotel was a fantastic stay. The relaxed vibe and the pool were the best aspects. The hotel facilities were great, with free coffee available all day and a nice community feel. The room was trendy and comfortable, though some fittings looked worn. Staff were excellent and parking was convenient. The location, except for the unfortunate neighborhood, was easily accessible to transportation and close to various sights.

Staff is warm, knowledgable, welcoming. Hotel is cutting edge design, green, comfortable, fun. Lounge/restaurant wonderful atmosphere and food. Very convenient location - a bit edgy/urban but safe. It is now my favorite SF hotel and I'm telling all my friends to stay there. Parking and breakfast by the pool included in the room rate - how can you beat that !?!

Room was big and that was excellent. Traveled much, cause it's at walking distance from Civic Center subway station...

I liked our room, it was spacious and comfortable. The courtyard was pleasant. I liked the artistic tile work in the pool. The accompanying lounge (Chambers) was perfect for late-night cocktails.
The magnetic card reader for our room access was not 100% reliable.

Hotel Phoenix suited us - 2 adults and an 11-year-old child - very well. The combination of central location, reasonable price, quirky charm and facilities offered (breakfast, parking, pool, bar and wifi) meant that it had everything we wanted for a two-day stay. Staff were friendly and helpful and the pool, though small, was lovely. The short walks to Union Square and Market Street meant that we were well placed for seeing the city on foot and by bus. We would certainly stay there again.
Better breakfast coffee and bigger towels would have been nice. A set of weighing scales to help people packing to fly would have been useful.

I had a fantastic stay at this hotel in the Tenderloin district. Despite being located in a not-so-great neighborhood, the hotel itself was a hidden gem. The staff were super friendly and made me feel welcome throughout my stay. The hotel facilities were wonderful, especially the beautiful garden settings and pool. Additionally, the hotel offered private parking, which was a non-negotiable for me. It made it easy for me to attend the concert at August Hall, which was just nearby.
Nothing all good.
